“Unpretty” re-released under Creative Commons
September 18th, 2008I’ve put up the second story I’m re-releasing under a Creative Commons License, “Unpretty.”
No one ever really liked this story, except me. It was actually one of my favorites in the collection. Maybe it was one of those so-called “darlings” writers are so oft advised to murder without mercy. When I would do it at readings, folks would often wince.
Anyway, I’m not murdering it (although murder happens in it). Here is a slightly revised, shortened version of “Unpretty,” which was how I wanted it to appear. It was originally published in The Wave And Other Stories.
